Horizon House

Project Description: Tasked with designing elevations and perspectives within a vast winter terrain.

Assigned Location: Powder Mountain, Utah

Software: Revit, Twinmotion, Photoshop

The Process

I started by designing the foundation with the cabin’s location in mind. Based off the precedent, I knew this would be a wooden cabin nestled in a mountainous setting so it was vital to include aluminum mullions and metal pillars to keep the structure from sliding.

The Execution

It was imperative that I think about the client who would be dwelling in the cabin.

The main entrance has a bridge with metal railings to offer assistance into the cabin itself.

The inside of the home consists of a kitchen with two counters on each side. There is a storage room to place ski equipment. Alongside the living room, I’ve made sure to include a sitting area that overlooks the gorgeous view from both the north and west wall.

The Rendering

The open and minimalistic layout felt right for the environment. I chose a wooden feel all around to harmoniously match the qualities of the country-like setting.
